Workers

A preliminary study for the Julia story I am currently drawing, set in the world of construction workers. I watched some very good Ken Loach movies (Riff raff!) and asked to dear friends architects who helped especially for the construction site reference. It's a pretty unusual location for a comic book!

Interesting bunch of characters indeed. You should watch some Mike Leigh films while you're at too ;-)

hi Dominic, I quite liked "secrets and lies" but I think it's the only Leigh movie I've ever seen...
Any suggestion?:)

Gran bel disegno, Bravo Zaghi, d'ora in poi ti chiamerò Maestro!

- Pagas:

Great characters, and some wonderful attention to little details ( the different cuts of pants/shorts, the gear etc. Nice work!

Brilliant drawing; very believable cast of characters!

-Marco:
thanks my friend:) As this was an early study, only one of these characters actually appears in the story, but it was fun and useful to draw a lot of them.

-Benton:
yes little details are very important for setting an atmosphere or depict characters, thank you!

- Alan:
Thanks Alan! I got some inspiration by movies and tv shows. For the tall man in the middle I thought of former motorcycle 500cc world champion, Kevin Schwantz... :)

Beeeeeello!!!

-Alessandra
ma grazie mille!

Hey Roberto!
Man that's sooo cool! I love the economic lines that say it all. Fantastic!

By the way, I have picked up some old copies of the italian TREVISO COMICS at a convention in Vienna. Have you heard of those? I like the X-tra large format of those.

@Craig:
wow thanks for the kind comment, your art is gorgeous!

@Looka:
glad you like this one!
No I actually didn't know about it but it's my fault cause I admit that I'm more expert in silver age comics than in current ones....

I will let you know when I have uploaded some pictures of those! It's from the late eighties. I have another one called DOLCE VITA - both have work by Mattotti. Dolce has Igort and Charles Burns in them. It's really huge, one page is A2!
